Fee, Fie, Foe, Friday: Totally Sick of Canning Jars as Glasses

Well, that title says it all, doesn't it? I am SICK of seeing canning jars used as drinking glasses. I blame a lot of bloggers for this. Everyone serves some beverage in a Ball jar, or it's classier German cousin, the Weck jar. Too many restaurants think its cute, too. It isn't. Trust me on this. It's a has-been trend that peaked a few years back. Stop, please. No more cold-brewed iced coffee in canning jars, OK? Or Watermelon Lemonade Fizzes. Please.


Folks used canning jars to drink from out of necessity, not for their beauty. Indeed a whole cottage industry of sipping lids, "moonshine" sipping sets and what not has risen from this trend.  Ugh.


Let's all do something different. Let's get out Grandma's good crystal and use that. No sense in keeping it packed away for posterity. Enjoy your iced coffee in a glass with a nice, thin edge instead of a threaded jar rim. Keep your canning jars for canning, OK?
